Weekly painting classes at Hurstpierpoint (and on Zoom) led by Brighton painter and art tutor Cecil Rice. These friendly art classes are suitable for beginners and regular painters in watercolour, acrylics and oil. Friendly, supportive atmosphere among established members.
Enjoy painting with others in a modern, well-ventilated, light-filled room at Hurstpierpoint Scout hut with enough space to spread out and a free car park just outside. The class size of 8 ensures adequate social distancing.
Sessions start with short painting demos presenting different techniques and a variety of themes to provide inspirational starting points. Students are encouraged to follow their own interests and explore new ways of working. Good-humoured critical appraisal where requested and, of course, encouragement. We are delighted to announce we open this Autumn term with a fabulous course of projects on the theme of ‘The Elements”
Each term students cover an exciting variety of projects, using a range of materials and techniques. This Autumn will include a Georgia O’keefe style desert landscape in acrylic paints, watercolour clouds, realism studies of water droplets in charcoal , David Hockey poster in mixed media, ‘The God of wind’ in dip pen and inks and Bird in flight sculptures.
Our classes focus on the step-by-step teaching of traditional drawing, painting and sculpture. Our classes are always kept small with 1 teacher to every 4 students, to ensure everyone receives lots of individual attention.
